When it comes to the greatest wrestlers to come out of the United Kingdom, William Regal will always be one of the first names to come to mind. He competed in both WCW and WWE during the Monday Night Wars before eventually becoming a staple of the WWE roster, and now acts as the company’s Vice-President for Global Talent Development.
However, if you ask the man himself, he wouldn’t call himself the greatest. In fact, he actually believes a current AEW star is the best wrestler to come out of England since the 1980s. The man in question is none other than PAC, who Regal recently bumped into on a flight back from Mexico, and Regal opened up about the current AEW star on his X (formerly known as Twitter) page.

That’s no knock on the incredible UK talent around today but I come from a time and style where being credible was part of the job. PAC is the only wrestler that when I see him wrestle I think he can beat me up and his wrestling is so much more aggressive and credible. Again, there’s brilliant UK wrestlers who I rate highly and am huge fans of but not as much as him. That’s just me and my opinion. Neville v Aleister Black from the UK tournament in Blackpool is one of my favourite bouts I saw live in the last 20 years. Last nights Roman v Penta rates up there with it. No need to argue as I don’t read comments.”
PAC was in Mexico last weekend working for CMLL where he lost to Mascara Dorada, while Regal was in attendance for “WWE Raw,” “WWE SmackDown” and night two of AAA TripleMania 34, all of which took place in Mexico City. Regal and PAC did briefly get the chance to interact in 2022 when Regal was part of the AEW roster, and PAC would eventually join the Death Riders in 2024, a stable Regal technically helped form two years earlier when it was originally known as the Blackpool Combat Club.
