World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns successfully defended his title against Penta in the main event of “WWE Raw” from Mexico City. Reigns took two Mexican Destroyers, but after the first, the “Tribal Chief” hit a spear after briefly falling back into the turnbuckle. Many fans online accused Reigns of “no-selling” the move, but Bully Ray defended the champion on “Busted Open Radio.”

“This is where the moments in time for a match when the time is right, with the right character, you can get away with a moment in time like they did last night,” he said. “Roman Reigns did not no-sell the [Mexican] Destroyer. As a matter of fact, if it wasn’t for that turnbuckle and those ropes, Roman Reigns, he would’ve bumped out of the ring. It was only the ropes and the turnbuckle that saved Roman Reigns, which allowed him to get his composure back for that second to run back and hit that spear.”

The WWE Hall of Famer said that Penta and Reigns had fans suspending their disbelief, to the point where he thought that Penta could have won the title at least two or three times. He said there was nothing beyond the realm of believability in the match.

“If anybody could withstand the Mexican Destroyer and then come back and hit a desperation spear, it was Roman Reigns,” he said. “Roman Reigns did not no-sell a Mexican Destroyer last night… After the kickout is when Roman went back down to the sell.”

Reigns also sold Penta’s Sacrifice throughout the match after the luchador targeted his right arm. In the end, the “OTC” hit a final Superman punch, followed by a spear, for the win.
