WWE Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer recently revealed that she underwent surgery during her time away from the ring. Vaquer dropped the title to Liv Morgan at WrestleMania 42, then disappeared from TV before making her return on the episode of “WWE Raw” following SummerSlam.
PWInsider provided a translation of Vaquer’s recent interview with Rueda en el Ring, which was originally conducted in Spanish and posted to the outlet’s Instagram account. In the interview, Vaquer said her break from the ring was necessary for her health, something she revealed during season two of “WWE Unreal” on Netflix, following her loss to Morgan.
“It was very difficult because coming out of surgery and having to wait without training, I think that was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in my life,” Vaquer told Yael Rueda, as translated by PWInsider. “Not being active in my training, but I returned to the ring, and stepping into the ring for me felt like coming back to life.”
Vaquer said she’s returned better than ever, but didn’t go into further details about the surgery. She was said to be battling a high ankle sprain following the “Showcase of the Immortals,” but Dave Meltzer later reported in the “Wrestling Observer Newsletter” that Vaquer suffered an AC joint sprain in her shoulder.
“La Primera” won the title back from Morgan during a match in her native country of Chile, during a live event in Santiago. Becky Lynch served as the special guest referee, and now both women are gunning for Vaquer and the title.
