Tyson Fury reignited his rivalry with Anthony Joshua moments after stopping Mariusz Wach, delivering an X-rated response when asked if he would attend Saturday’s fight in Jeddah. The outburst came with contracts already signed for a proposed November heavyweight showdown.
Fury handled Wach before the referee halted the exhibition following a ringside doctor’s inspection in the seventh round. With his side of the proposed November showdown complete, questions immediately turned to whether he would be ringside in Jeddah if Joshua defeats Prenga.
Joshua had welcomed Fury’s presence, while Matchroom chairman Eddie Hearn questioned whether the former heavyweight champion would actually stay away.
Fury’s response was blunt.
“Suck a d***, both of them,” Fury told SunSport.
“I’m not interested, I’ve got my own business to take care of and what he does with his business is his own fault, nothing to do with me.”
Fury’s focus remained on business inside the ring against Wach. He controlled the fight behind his jab, switched comfortably between orthodox and southpaw, and dictated the distance before the referee called in the ringside doctor to examine the 46-year-old Pole.
The victory keeps Fury on course for the long-awaited meeting with Joshua, although the former unified heavyweight champion must first beat Kristian Prenga on Saturday’s DAZN PPV main event in Jeddah.
Contracts have already been signed for the proposed November fight, leaving Joshua with one job this weekend.
If he gets past Prenga, British boxing finally gets the heavyweight fight that has slipped away for years.
