Jahmal “Hard Rock” Harvey destroyed Hammet Kowany Keb del Valle with a brutal second-round knockout in Friday night’s lightweight co-feature at Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California.
Harvey (4-0, 3 KOs) was too fast, accurate, and powerful for Keb (7-3-1, 6 KOs) from the opening bell. The 2024 U.S. Olympian quickly found openings for his combinations and gave the Mexican no time to settle into the fight.
The punishment continued in the second round. Harvey hurt Keb with a fast combination before landing a crushing right cross that sent him heavily to the canvas and ended the scheduled six-round contest.
The punch statistics showed how one-sided the fight had been. Harvey landed 46 of 84 power punches for a 55 percent connect rate, including 37 shots to the head. Keb connected with only 10 of 44 power punches and landed seven to the head.
Those numbers also raise the question of how quickly MVP will advance Harvey. The 23-year-old was a 2021 amateur world champion and reached the quarterfinals at the Paris Olympics, giving him far more experience than his four professional fights suggest.
Another opponent at Keb’s level will not reveal much. Harvey needs someone capable of surviving his early speed, forcing him to adjust, and making him work through difficult rounds. His amateur background and rapid start leave little reason to move him at the pace of an ordinary prospect.
The knockout was the strongest performance of Harvey’s young professional career, but the ease of the win made the matchmaking look too safe. His next opponent should offer enough resistance to show how close Harvey is to facing established lightweights.
The bout served as the co-feature of the Amanda Serrano versus Lucrecia Manzur card and streamed free on TikTok LIVE.
