WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green has had multiple victories over the last week, despite still recovering from a broken orbital bone. First, WWE quietly dropped the “interim” from her championship reign, and then she defeated Nia Jax in her first defense of the gold since winning the five-woman ladder match at WWE SummerSlam. Green and her husband, Matt Cardona, appeared on “Notsam Wrestling” in the week following the match, and the champion explained she got unexpected feedback about the defense online.

“I thought it was a banger of a match, but the internet told me otherwise,” Green said. “One thing about them, they stay humbling me. For 13 years, I can’t get a big head.”

Green won the match with an Unprettier with Jax on the ropes after dodging the Annihilator, but the finish looked slightly clunky. Cardona shrugged it off, saying that “nobody posts about a good flight,” and Green said when he first told her that, she knew he was right.

“Look, my friends are also very real with me. Jordynne Grace? Very, very real,” Green said. “Whether I want to hear it or not. She told me she liked the match. That’s who I trust.”

The champion quit X (formerly Twitter) over the summer due to harassment, including death threats. She said the online response to the Jax match felt “personal,” because Mexico City told them it was amazing by being loud.

“The problem is that I also preach that if I’m going to believe the good stuff, I have to believe the bad stuff,” she said. “I do stand by that, but then it’s like, ‘Okay, right now, I better not believe anything.'”
