Kofi and Austin Creed look rejuvenated since they debuted at AEW All In: London following their departure from WWE, but they did have to make the tough decision to leave behind their long-time tag team partner, Big E. Although he can no longer compete in the ring due to the neck injury he suffered in 2022, Big E still works as a panel analyst and media spokesperson for WWE. Despite The New Level’s decision separating the trio for the first time in 15 years, Creed explained on “Close Up with Renee Paquette” that Big E was supportive of their idea to join AEW.
“We spent more time together than we did with our families. We’re on the road so much. 200-plus days a year, you know? And so, to go through that process of talking to ‘E’ about leaving and him not even letting us finish and saying, ‘I know, you got to go and it’s okay,’ like it’s happy, but it hurts … Seeing people understand that in the way that they did was really meaningful to us because it means that you guys are locked in as much as we are to this.”
Big E has also been involved with The New Level’s presentation in AEW, with Kofi revealing earlier this month that he contributed to the creation of the theme song they debuted with at All In. In addition, Swerve Strickland, who currently holds the AEW World Trios Titles with Kofi and Creed, claims that he has no intention of replacing Big E, and wants the group to present something new to professional wrestling fans.
