WWE’s Bronson Reed has discussed the challenges of his recent injury and noted how it may have been exacerbated by a record he was chasing.
Reed tore his bicep in a match on “WWE Raw” at the start of the year, recently telling “The West Sport” that the injury could have been aggravated in the weight room before it happened on “Raw.”
“It was just a freak accident. Like, it might have been wear and tear from over time. I’d done a lot of powerlifting in my time, and right before my bicep getting injured, I was sort of going for a record of a new bicep curl and just doing some crazy lifts, and it’s probably stuff that I have changed now in the way that I work out and the way that I concentrate on my muscles,” he revealed. “You can do something completely crazy and be completely safe, or you could just be in the ring literally running around, walking around or whatever and do something. So, it’s fate a lot of the time.”
The Australian star said the toughest part of his injury recovery was rebuilding strength in the bicep he tore. He continued doing cardio after surgery to maintain that aspect of his fitness, but it took him longer to regain strength in the arm he injured.
“I couldn’t even feel anything in my right arm after surgery. So, like, it naturally lost like half an inch to the other arm,” he said. “So I think strength was probably the hardest thing to rebuild back. Whereas the first six weeks or so when I couldn’t use my right arm at all post-surgery, I was still doing cardio and stuff like that.”
Reed returned to WWE looking much lighter than when he injured himself, and he believes that physical transformation could have given him better stamina, helping him have longer matches in the ring.
