PFL lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov is scheduled to return and defend his title against Archie Colgan in the main event when the PFL goes back to New York with a card at the UBS Arena on Long Island on July 31.
In addition to Nurmagomedov’s title defense, PFL star Dakota Ditcheva makes her long-awaited return to action as she faces Denise Kielholtz in a flyweight co-main event.
PFL officials announced the news on Tuesday.
The card serves as Nurmagomedov’s second opportunity to defend his PFL lightweight title after he won the belt with a dominant win over Paul Hughes and then stopped Alfie Davis in his first defense. Prior to becoming PFL champion, Nurmagomedov held the Bellator lightweight title where he racked up three defenses in a row.
As for Colgan, the 30-year-old lightweight contender enters the bout with a perfect 13-0 record including nine straight wins between the PFL and Bellator. Most recently, Colgan dispatched Jay Jay Wilson via unanimous decision to put himself in position to battle for the PFL lightweight title.
In the co-main event, Ditcheva finally makes her return after a hand injury prevented her from competing back in February where she was originally supposed to clash with Kielholtz. Ditcheva enters the fight with an unblemished 15-0 record, including wins over Taila Santos, Jena Bishop and Sumiko Inaba.
Kielhotz enters the bout on a three-fight win streak including a victory over Antonia Silvaneide that she picked up in February after Ditcheva was forced out of their scheduled matchup.
More fights are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
The PFL New York main card is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. ET on July 31 with the event airing live on ESPN.
