“Love that Danhausen” was a phrase often used by him on the indies and now seems to be the feelings of fans, WWE, and sports teams. Danhausen gained popularity in pop culture when he lifted the “curse” he placed on ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith and the New York Knicks went on a fairytale run in the playoffs before winning the NBA Championship for the first time in 53 years. He also “cursed” the Las Vegas Golden Knights and the Carolina Hurricanes won the Stanley Cup. Danhausen and the Knicks have since worked together with Karl-Anthony Towns helping him win at SNME in June.

Now the NFL wants in on Danhausen’s popularity with at least three teams inquiring about working with him for potential promotional partnerships and in-stadium appearances, according to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select. According to a source with WWE, the response to Danhausen’s crossover New York Knicks merchandise is “‘unlike anything the company has experienced with a talent generating crossover interest from professional sports organizations.” Assuming Danhausen works with an NFL team, the internal expectation is that Fanatics will have a crossover between the two later this season.

Last month, Danhausen said in an interview with “Complex” that former NFL quarterback and partial owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, Tom Brady was “cursed” for calling wrestling “cute” and “scripted”.
