Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk unleashed a spectacular performance to spark Ukraine late in the first half, driving his country to a commanding 99–69 victory over Denmark at Farum Arena on Sunday.
The 29-year-old sharpshooter, transitioning from the Utah Jazz, recorded his second consecutive explosive showing in this FIBA window. He ignited early with 12 points in the opening six minutes and reached 24 by the intermission before finishing with an individual record at his senior national team at 30 points on 9-of-16 shooting, highlighted by six three-pointers. The former NBA champion with the Boston Celtics and veteran of 392 league games also contributed five assists, four rebounds, two steals, and a block in just over 23 minutes of action.
This triumphant effort secured a fourth win for Ukraine, allowing them to carry positive momentum into Group I for the final stage of the FIBA World Cup 2027 Qualifiers in Europe. The success builds upon Mykhailiuk’s extensive international career, which includes the World Cup 2014, EuroBasket 2022, and various junior tournaments.
Conversely, Denmark was eliminated from contention after finishing fourth in the group without a single victory across six matches. They must now look ahead to a fresh start in the EuroBasket 2029 Pre-Qualifiers during the next FIBA window.
Group A action concludes later Sunday in Tbilisi, where Spain wants to preserve their perfect 5-0 record against host Georgia.
