Jaron “Boots” Ennis is wasting no time looking for his next big win at 154 pounds. Fresh off unifying two junior middleweight straps, Boots is already in talks for a three-belt unification blockbuster. The plan is to face WBC champion Sebastian Fundora, with target dates floating around November or December.

Boots just got done tearing through Xander Zayas, stopping him on Saturday night to snatch the WBO title and pair it with his WBA belt. The victory cements him as the top man at 154 pounds, and jumping right into a fight with Fundora gives him the perfect shot to push for the undisputed crown.

Fundora captured his WBC belt back in early 2024 by upsetting Tim Tszyu, and he has been on a tear ever since. He stacked up wins over Chordale Booker, beat Tszyu again in their rematch, and is just coming off a blistering performance earlier this month in Las Vegas where he put away Keith Thurman in six rounds.

Stylistically, Fundora is a completely different beast than Zayas. Standing at a towering 6’5 ½”, the guy uses his massive reach to rain down non-stop punches inside, making life miserable for anyone in front of him. Boots will need every bit of his elite speed, timing, and ring IQ to handle that kind of unique physical puzzle.

Fundora represents the fastest path available to the top of the division. Rather than spending the next year defending his belts, Ennis has a chance to eliminate another champion immediately and reduce the undisputed picture to a single remaining fight.

Plenty still has to fall into place before the fight becomes official, but the prize couldn’t be much bigger. Three of the four major world titles would be on the line, leaving the winner just one belt away from the undisputed championship.

The proposed matchup first surfaced in a report from Ring Magazine’s Mike Coppinger, who said both camps are working toward a November or December date.
