Dustin Poirier caused quite the scene before finally getting arrested at the Atlanta Airport.
On Sunday evening, Poirier was arrested in the Georgia for public intoxication, though details on the former UFC interim lightweight champion’s arrest were sparse. But on Tuesday, TMZ Sports procured body cam footage of Poirier’s arrest in the Atlanta Airport, showing Poirier acting erratic and threatening a police officer, before ultimately submitting to his arrest.
The bodycam footage picks up after Poirier had been removed from a plane, as Poirier is shown causing a scene with some of the gate agents.
“Pulled me off the plane, all my boys went to f*cking the crib,” Poirier says in the footage. “Now, what the f*ck?”
The responding officer then recognizes Poirier and asks if he is Dustin Poirier, prompting the former fighter to lash out.
“Man, f*ck you, bro,” Poirier says. “F*ck you, and f*ck her, and f*ck her.”
The responding officer does his best to de-escalate the situation, but Poirier removes his backpack and begins threatening the officer, even taking a boxing stance, prompting the officer to call for several backup units.
“I’ll fight you right now,” Poirier says. “I’ll go with you right now. Let’s go. Yeah, tell ‘em. Tell ‘em to come on, because it’s going to be bad. What’s up? You want to fight?”
The officer then pulls his taser out and backs away as Poirier continues to posture aggressively, even challenging the officer to tase him, while the officer repeatedly asks Poirier to relax.
“You gonna tase me?” Poirier said. “You gonna tase me, dog? I’m gonna bang you up.”
More officers eventually arrive, are briefed on the situation, and things defuse in the video, with Poirier ultimately acquiescing to being arrested, and even trying to smooth things over with the officer he tried to fight.
“Hey, pound it,” Poirier says while handcuffed behind his back. “You did a great job. You did what you could.”
Poirier was booked into Clayton County Jail after the incident and bonded out a few hours later.
In the state of Georgia, public drunkenness carries a punishment of up to one year in jail or up to $1,000 in fines, or both.
