Following the joint AEW exit of both Cody Rhodes and Brandi Rhodes, and “The American Nightmare’s” subsequent jump to WWE, there were some fans who wondered whether Brandi had plans to return to the ring in the promotion. On an episode of her “Shot of Brandi” podcast, she admitted to preparing for a return to the ring in WWE, until firmly deciding against it.
During the episode, Carmelo Hayes was her guest for the day, and it was the former WWE United States Champion who revealed that Brandi was seen at the Performance Center. “‘What’s Brandi doing here?’ Hey! I was having a good time,” she answered. “I was wanting to come back fully, and in full swing, because I had Liberty and I felt like I was ready to be back and wrestling full-time.”
She then explained that she went to the PC, trained for about two weeks, but while she had a great time and claims she enjoyed it, especially working with Norman Smiley and Fit Finlay, she wasn’t yet ready to leave her daughter for long stretches of time.
“Every time I stepped out of the ring, my daughter [would run to me], crying, holding on to me; it was very hard,” she expressed. “And so I did not do the follow-up that I should have to really get into the ring, because I felt like I couldn’t do it.”
After beginning her WWE career as an announcer, Brandi took on more of an in-ring role, as well as that of a manager, following her and her husband’s departure from the company. She went on to wrestle 20 times in AEW before leaving the company in 2022.
