Davis insisted he controls his own career decisions, prompting Bill Haney to revive his proposed purse split and guaranteed payday for a Devin Haney fight

Bill Haney wasted little time renewing his offer to Gervonta Davis after the WBA lightweight champion declared that he alone decides the direction of his career. The exchange keeps a potential Devin Haney fight in the conversation despite recent reports suggesting Davis may not return until 2027.

Haney responded to Tank’s latest post by repeating the same proposal he had made previously on X.

“55/45 to you 15,000,000 guaranteed.

When you ready?

Since Al and Ramone gave me the wrong information?”

Bill’s message came after Tank wrote:

“When it comes to my career AL listens to me.. he’s still the man but w my career it’s my decision what I want to do.”

The exchange follows reports from boxing insider Mike Coppinger on DAZN’s Inside Ring Show that Tank is not expected to return until the first quarter of 2027 after a conversation between Al Haymon and Bill Haney.

Rather than addressing the reported timetable directly, Tank emphasized that the ultimate decision rests with him. His comments appeared to push back against the idea that his adviser Al Haymon or anyone else determines when he returns to the ring.

While Tank stopped short of accepting Bill’s proposed 55-45 split and $15 million guarantee for a fight against Devin Haney, his response leaves open the possibility that he could return sooner than the reported 2027 target if he chooses.

Thus far, no agreement has been reached, but the latest public exchange keeps the proposed Haney-Tank fight alive after it appeared Coppinger’s report had all but ruled it out. Negotiations now appear back in play.
