Celebrities often appear in WWE to bring their audiences to the product, but Lil Yachty seems to have gained more from his WWE run through his friendship with Trick Williams.
Yachty debuted in WWE in March, initially featuring as Williams’ manager before making his in-ring debut. During his short journey in WWE, he has formed a genuine friendship with WWE United States Champion Trick Williams, one that has had a significant impact on him.
“Man, that is like my brother. Like that relationship, I couldn’t have paid for it. I couldn’t have asked for it. That was like dropped down from god, you know? Like, I couldn’t have asked for that friendship, man,” he said on “Insight.” “He’s been like the most positive influence on my life I’ve ever had, ever. And I’ve always wanted like an older brother like that.”
The rapper delved into his relationship with WWE star more deeply, explaining the ways in which Williams has helped him and what he has learned from him.
“He’s really helped change my life for the better. Not only with, like, the wrestling stuff and the opportunity, I’m grateful for that too, but off camera, just like my health and training and just the way he lives his life. I come from rap, it’s dark. We live a different life. I’m up all night, it’s a lot of drugs and women, and it’s a different lifestyle. Trick is like a really routine, really scheduled, really healthy, really clean, on point, just like a structured guy. And just being around him, it’s really reshifted my brain in so many ways of life that he would never even know or understand because it’s just an image I haven’t had around.”
After his initial few appearances on “SmackDown,” the rapper was offered a contract with WWE, which he happily signed, tying him to the company for longer than most expected and likely helping him further develop his friendship with Williams.
