Xia Brookside is still the TNA Knockouts World Champion after a successful defense against Gabby Forza on Thursday night’s episode of “TNA Impact.”

Last week, Indi Hartwell made Brookside tap out in the center of the ring. Still, authority figure Daria Rae opted to grant the next title opportunity to Forza, citing the fact that “The Gnomie” recently “left a better impression” on her than Hartwell had.

In her first ever KO Title match, Forza burst out of the gate by driving the defending champion into the mat, face-first, then causing her to stagger from a shoulder tackle. Forza lifted Brookside up in the air for a potential slam next, but was denied by a sly poke to the eye. Brookside kept her momentum rolling with a series of stomps and a sliding elbow in the corner. More stomps followed, as did a set of knees.

Forza eventually shifted the tide back into her favor by blocking an Irish Whip and landing a pair of clotheslines. After getting spun around and slammed down, Brookside tried to escape the ring, only to immediately get pulled back in. When Brookside then attempted to take Forza off her feet with a crossbody, she found herself caught mid-air instead.

Forza later hit an Okla-Gnome-A Stamped and a Vader bomb so brutal that Brookside rolled out and began heading to the backstage area with her title. Before she could make it there, however, Hartwell appeared on the ramp, followed by Rae. Amidst Hartwell and Rae’s subsequent argument, Brookside struck Forza with her title belt to finally gain the pinfall.

Brookside captured the Knockouts Championship by defeating Lei Ying Lee at Slammiversary. Since then, she’s retained it elsewhere by besting Wendy Choo, Elayna Black, and Lee in a rematch. TNA announced Forza’s signing last month after she impressed in the KO Television Championship tournament. Her faceoff with Brookside marked just her fourth match under the TNA banner.
