TNT Champion Kevin Knight and Darby Allin have been locked in a feud since Knight turned heel on the former AEW World Champion at the end of Double or Nothing. The pair are now set to square off in singles competition for the fourth time at AEW All In: London.
Ahead of their big Falls Count Anywhere matchup at Wembley Stadium, Allin sat down with Forbes. He talked about his history with Knight, as the pair came up in the business from the same wrestling school, the Buddy Wayne Academy in Washington. Allin told Forbes that he met Knight when “The Jet” had only been training for about two months, and he was five years into his own career.
“I saw a lot of potential in him, and I told him that,” Allin told the outlet. “And I’ve always kept an eye on him. To me, the point that he’s at right now is where I was in 2020 when I became TNT Champion.”
Allin said when he started, he didn’t want anyone helping take him to the top, unlike Knight, who joined the Don Callis Family. He acknowledged Knight “went a different route.”
“So, I see that he’s at that crossroads right now in his career that I was at,” he said. “Well, it’s time to humble him in front of everybody and show him that foundation isn’t going to last.”
The pair’s Falls Count Anywhere bout comes after Knight successfully retained his title over Allin on the July 22 edition of “AEW Dynamite” when he hit Allin with the belt. On the most recent edition of “Dynamite,” Knight went as far as setting off pyro to explode around Allin, then injured him to the point where the former TNT Champion had to be taken out of the arena on a stretcher.
