BMF titleholder Charles Oliveira inked a new long-term deal with the UFC.
Oliveira’s coach Diego Lima told Ag. Fight that the former UFC lightweight champion signed a new eight-fight contract with the organization after dominating Max Holloway in the main event of UFC 326 in March.
“We renewed the contract for eight more fights,” Lima said. “So we’ll have Charles fights until he’s 40. So, for those who said he was going to retire, want more [laughs].”
Oliveira, who turns 37 in October, was victorious in 15 of his past 18 fights in the octagon and currently rides a two-fight winning streak, extending his promotional record to 25-11 with one no-contest.
“It was a wonderful contract. Wonderful,” Lima said. “I don’t have a [bad] thing to say. It was an incredible negotiation.”
The UFC has yet to announce what’s next for Oliveira, but he has stated his goal is to fight for the 155-pound championship next. The belt will be on the line on June 14, when Ilia Topuria looks to defend against interim titleholder Justin Gaethje in the main event of UFC White House.
