Johnny Walker is heading to the heavyweight division.

Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a matchup between Walker and Ante Delija is being targeted for UFC Belgrade, which takes place Aug. 1 at Belgrade Arena in Serbia. Verbal agreements are in place with contracts expected to be signed soon.

Walker heads up a division after a disappointing performance at UFC 327 in April, losing a tepid split decision to Dominick Reyes. Walker has just two wins in his past six fights, and after working with the likes of Francis Ngannou in the training room, he feels he’s ready to get a fresh start at heavyweight.

Delija, a former PFL heavyweight season champion, started his UFC run with a first-round finish against Marcin Tybura at UFC Vegas 110 this past November. It served as his lone promotional win to this point as he’s lost back-to-back fights to Waldo Cortes-Acosta and Serghei Spivac.
