Yoel Romero and Hector Lombard will step in the cage, and take off the gloves for an MMA bout.

Jorge Masvidal announced during Friday night’s Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA event in the Dominican Republic that Romero and Lombard will compete at the promotion’s next event on May 1 in Miami. Both fighters were in attendance for the event, but according to the broadcast, Romero and Lombard remained in the crowd because of fear the two would start “fighting each other” in the cage.

Romero has kept himself quite busy over the past couple of years in non-traditional mixed martial arts bouts — competing multiple times for Dirty Boxing, along with bouts in BKFC and other bare-knuckle boxing organizations, and also competing in wrestling matches for RAF. “Soldier of God” most recently lost a controversial decision to Vagab Vagabov at IBA Bare Knuckle 4 in March, but the UFC and Bellator veteran is out to prove he’s still as dangerous as ever, even as he’s about to turn 49 years of age.

Lombard has also competed in a slew of bare-knuckle matchups — including capturing a BKFC title — over the past few years. The 48-year-old is set to make his second appearance for Gamebred, where he picked up a 69 second knockout in his promotional debut in November 2023. In his most recent bout, Lombard suffered a quick knockout at DBX 3 against James Cannon in a stunning upset this past August.
