Ric Flair’s daughter Ashley – better known as Charlotte Flair – has established herself as an integral name on the women’s roster in WWE, coming close to tying with her father as a 16-time world champion. Two of Flair’s other children, his sons David and Reid, also entered the industry while his youngest son, Reid, tragically fell victim to his opioid addiction, passing away due to a drug overdose in 2013.
During an appearance on Roman Sharf’s “Dual Time Podcast,” Flair recalled the story behind his affinity for Rolex watches, explaining that it all came from buying one for his father.
“I wanted to buy my dad something cool for Christmas, so I bought my dad a Gold and Silver,” he recalled, noting that his dad was his best friend, but he was still very taken aback by the gesture, and the two of them shared a beautiful moment together.
“The other side to that story is – which is a terrible side – is that my son was – had a heroin addiction, and he loved my mom and my dad,” Flair recalled, claiming Reid was his parents’ favorite grandchild. “He kept saying to me, ‘Dad, let me wear grandpa’s Rolex!’ I said: ‘Jesus, honey, that’s the most prized possession I have, you know.’ And finally he talked me into it. And he – this is what told me there was something really wrong – he sold it to buy heroin.”
Flair then claimed that a retired police officer friend of his used all of his connections to track the watch down, but they unfortunately never got it back.
