Before his odd storyline with “Moppy,” Perry Saturn was paired with Terri Runnels in an on-screen romantic angle, at the time with his feud against Eddie Guerrero, where he beat his former stablemate for the WWE European Championship. Down the line, Saturn would abandon Runnels for “Moppy,” leading to a feud between him and Raven.
Looking back at his pairing with Runnels during an interview on “INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet,” Saturn claims he has no idea how that idea was pitched and claims it was the first time he ever worked with a valet.
“Terri – I don’t know her at all – and she tells me, ‘If you say it’s okay, they’re gonna put us together.’ I go, ‘Okay, we’ll try it.’ And she goes, ‘Okay, let’s get this out of the way: you are not f**king me, so don’t try,'” he recalled.
With that warning out of the way, Saturn claims he never hit on her and was able to concentrate on the angle and further claimed that she was the first platonic female friend he ever had. The veteran further lamented that they never got the opportunities they deserved in WWE, admitting that he underdelivered some time. “Pat [Patterson] came up with the idea of us doing, like Macho [Man Randy Savage] and [Miss] Elizabeth, where he was overprotective, and he pitched it to [WWE], and they gave it to Eddie and [Chyna],” he further claimed.
Saturn noted that Runnels ultimately trusted him a lot in the ring, and she eventually pitched a romantic pivot to their characters without talking to WWE, because Saturn claims Jim Ross was unhealthily obsessed with her. “He goes, ‘Not everybody can be dating!’ he was like lecturing us about it!” the veteran recalled, claiming that they likely got heat backstage for going their own way.
