GIANLUIGI DONNARUMMA’S agent has sensationally revealed his client would be keen to move back to Italy if the opportunity arose despite just joining Manchester City only four months ago.

City signed Donnarumma, 26, last summer on transfer deadline day following a £26million deal with Paris Saint-Germain, where the player fell out of favour despite his role in them winning the Champions League.

The Italy international is currently Man City‘s No1 but his representative Enzo Raiola has claimed he would “take” the opportunity to go back to the Serie A in the near future.

Raiola confirmed the goalkeeper has adapted well in the Premier League with the Citizens.

However, Donnarumma‘s agent confirmed the shot-stopper is at a state in which he would not turn down a return to his home country.

Raiola told Rai: “Today at Manchester City he is finding serenity with the team and the environment, and he likes the project very much.

“He is also starting to understand the English championship.

“The other day he told me jokingly that playing five or six years there is an adventure, but it was a joke…

“However, if there is the opportunity to return to Italy, we will take it.”

That could cause the likes of Juventus and Inter Milan to rekindle their interest in Donnarumma, whom they eyed after he was axed by PSG manager Luis Enrique.

However, the player’s astronomical salary at the Etihad, worth a minimum net of £13million per season excluding bonuses, across a five-year contract – with the option to extend until 2031 – could pose as an obstacle.

Donnarumma burst onto the scene back in 2015 when he made his debut with childhood club AC Milan at the tender age of 16.

The keeper went on to amass a total of 251 appearances during a six-year stint with Milan before moving to PSG.

That quickly elevated him as Italy’s first-choice keeper and that led to 79 caps with his national team, whom he helped win Euro 2020.

So far, Donnarumma counts 24 appearances across all competitions with Man City.
