Johnny Garbarino continued to live up to his nickname on Wednesday after he launched a cannoli at former BKFC champion Mike Richman ahead of their fight at BKFC Liberty Brawl on Friday.
The bad blood between the competitors was evident from the second they got on stage together and it seemed like just a matter of time before something crazy happened. With a box of cannolis sitting in front of him, Garbarino was clearly gearing up to throw one of the pastries at his opponent.
Sure enough, Garbarino got up early in the press conference and blasted Richman with a Cannoli as the fighters did everything possible to charge at each other on stage with security doing everything possible to keep them separated.
Garbarino was eventually taken off stage but he returned later in the press conference and the fighters once again tried desperately to close enough so punches could be thrown. But BKFC was clearly ready for what was happening as Richman and Garbarino were never allowed to actually engage in a physical altercation.
After the press conference ended and the fighters were set up for the customary faceoff, Richman and Garbarino weren’t allowed anywhere near each other. But Garbarino still had half a cannoli hidden behind his back so he took one last throw at Richman with BKFC president and founder David Feldman nearly getting caught with some of the shrapnel.
The fight serves as one of the featured bouts on the BKFC Liberty Brawl event from Philadelphia with Garbarino taking a decided step up in competition to face Richman, who has been one of the top fighters in the bare-knuckle promotion since first arriving from MMA.
BKFC Liberty Brawl is headlined by a lightweight title fight as Austin Trout looked to stay undefeated in bare-knuckle when he faces Ben Bonner in the main event.
