Carol Foro was forced out of her UFC debut fight with Stephanie Luciano on March 28 after testing positive for a diuretic, her team announced Thursday on social media.

Foro, who was replaced by Alexia Thainara at the Seattle event, said they are “cooperating to clarify the facts” after an out-of-competition test conducted on Jan. 6 came back positive and an unnamed diuretic.

The former Jungle Fight flyweight champion inked a deal with the UFC after defeating Shanelle Dyer via unanimous decision on Dana White’s Contender Series in September of 2025, and denied intentionally using any banned substance.

“Carol did not knowingly or intentionally use the diuretic,” the statement read. “At the same time, we acknowledge that the quantities indicated in the result are not consistent with a typical scenario of trace accidental contamination, which reinforces the need for a thorough and careful technical investigation.”

Foro’s team sent a supplement for laboratory testing, but said the UFC decided to remove her from the UFC Seattle line-up “due to the time required to complete the supplement analysis and to properly evaluate the case.”

“We reaffirm the athlete and the entire team’s commitment to clean sport, respect for the regulations, and responsible transparency — without compromising the integrity of the ongoing process,” the statement read.

“Until the investigations and formal procedures are concluded, we will not comment on additional details that could interfere with the technical analysis and due process. We will continue cooperating with the competent authorities so that all facts can be clarified with precision.”
