Iwo Baraniewski needed just 28 seconds to dispatch Austen Lane with a brutal knockout at UFC London on Saturday.

Following an absolute barnburner in his octagon debut, Baraniewski delivered another staggering finish as he just walked through Lane in blistering fashion. The end came after Baraniewski connected with a huge overhand right followed by a perfectly timed left just behind it as Lane went crashing to the canvas.

The referee rushed in to save Lane from any further harm with the end ciming just 28 seconds into the opening round.

“I very [much] like the first round,” Baraniewski said after moving to 2-0 in the UFC. “I’m ready for the 15 minutes. Now I was ready for 15 minutes but if I catch some punch, I finish in the first round. I would like to show you something of my grappling base, my judo base … but a knockout is a knockout. I’m very happy.”

Through eight fights in his professional career, Baraniewski has yet to see a second round with eight straight finishes in the first with two submissions and six knockouts.

There was little chance that Lane, who was drafted by the Jaguars in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft, was going to take this fight past the first round, especially with the way that Baraniewski just hunted him down, threw the big shots and left no doubt that he’s a prospect worth watching for the future.

In a light heavyweight division that’s about to crown a new champion at UFC 327 in April, Baraniewski certainly looks like a future contender at 205 pounds.
