Jakub Wiklacz scored a literal last-second submission win in his sophomore UFC outing.

On Saturday night, Wiklacz faced Muin Gafurov in a preliminary bantamweight bout at UFC Vegas 113. Even before the bout began there was controversy as Gafurov missed weight by five pounds, coming in at 141 pounds for the event. Still, the bout went forward, and Wiklacz is certainly glad it did, because he added a fantastic highlight to his résumé.

The bout was mostly a back-and-forth affair, with Gafurov’s hard-nosed pressure meeting Wiklacz’s long-range striking game and repeated guillotine attempts. With short time left in the fight, Gafurov shot in on Wiklacz who jumped on yet another guillotine choke, but this time, he really locked it in. Gafurov went to his back to defend but Wiklacz cranked the choke, forcing Gafurov to tap out a second before the final horn sounded.

The tap came so close to the end of the fight that the Las Vegas officials spent several minutes after the bout looking at replay review before finally confirming that Gafurov tapped out, handing Wiklacz a last-second submission win.
