Trick Williams defeated Baron Corbin in a Steel Cage match to retain the United States Championship during “WWE SmackDown.”
Williams was wrestling Corbin with the title on the line for the fourth time, having lost it to him at SummerSlam, losing the rematch before Lil Yachty lasted five minutes with Corbin at Sunday Night’s Main Event. Williams then got a title shot at Corbin right away, reclaiming it and setting this week’s contest as the definitive rubber match.
The closing stretch of the match got started as Williams ascended the cage only to be met by Corbin at the top. Thus ensued a striking exchange at the top of the cage, Williams getting the advantage as Corbin retreated back down into the ring. Williams then climbed to the other side and looked to escape before Corbin grabbed him in a guillotine hold to drag him back over.
Corbin then delivered a superplex to send Williams back down to the middle of the ring. Both men were winded and Williams took the opportunity to make a cover, but Corbin kicked out before three. Corbin sought to climb the cage and escape while Williams crawled for the door. Corbin climbed back down and dragged Williams back in, kicking the door into Lil Yachty.
Williams connected with Trick Kick and went for the cover but Corbin kicked out again. Williams set up for the Trick Shot, Corbin answered with a lariat and a chokeslam, crawling for the door to escape. Yachty slammed the door in Corbin’s face and Williams delivered the Trick Shot. Corbin still managed to kick out.
Corbin then delivered Deep Six and went for the cover but this time Williams kicked out. He then went for End of Days but Williams telegraphed it to ram him into the cage and land Book End. Williams landed another two Book Ends and went for the cover, getting the winning pinfall.
