With growing apprehension still at large in the Middle East, WWE remains steadfast that WrestleMania 43 will still take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, next spring, despite recent missile and drone attacks in the country.
According to reports from PWInsider Elite, earlier this month, representatives from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were at the WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, discussing the event, as well as its logistics surrounding it. Though the dates of when the “Shows of Shows” will be held has not been made public yet, the company is said to be going “full steam ahead” with plans, as dates are apparently solidified internally, but it appears to remain confidential and on a need to know basis.
Maintaining its consistency from our report this past March, WWE will have a contingency plan in place in case things go awry. Its plan is to work hand-in-hand with privately contracted security experts in the region. Though it never hurts to have a backup plan, representatives of WWE told PWInsider that at this time, it’s “too soon” for the company to entertain other domestic locations.
However, opposite to its WrestleMania plans, WWE does have contingencies in place on pivoting its location for its Crown Jewel PLE on Saturday, November 7, should tensions escalate further than they already have between the United States and Iran. At this time, the U.S. Department of State has issued a cautionary warning advising Americans not to travel to Saudi Arabia.
