Van de Ven, 24, joined Spurs under Ange Postecoglou in a £43m deal in 2023.

The former Wolfsburg man has been one of the team’s standout performers during a turbulent spell.

He has also been at the centre of various incidents this season suggesting he is not totally happy in North London.

Van de Ven snubbed a public handshake with manager Thomas Frank on the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium pitch after losing to Chelsea in November.

And they have the power to force the issue because the defender is tied down on a contract until 2029 and therefore Spurs will not be strong-armed into a sale.

talkSPORT add Van de Ven wants to join one of the Premier League or European heavyweights.

Liverpool are said to be interested in him amid question marks over Van de Ven’s compatriot Van Dijk plus Ibrahima Konate’s expected departure.

The Reds wanted to sign Marc Guehi.

But the England international has signed for rivals Manchester City, putting pen to paper on a whopping £300,000-a-week deal.
