AS Andy Williams famously crooned, it’s the most wonderful time of the year.

Gameweek 14 features the final full round of European fixtures until late January, making way for a hectic domestic schedule bursting with Dream Team points ready to be harvested.

With the European competitions about to be paused, Dream Team managers should broaden their horizons and consider other options capable of delivering healthy returns during the festive period.

Take Harry Wilson (£2.6m) as an example.

Fulham’s No8 has been in excellent form of late with four goal involvements in his last three outings.

He capitalised on a Guglielmo Vicario (£3.4m) error to convert an exquisite finish 40 yards from goal, exhibiting the cultured nature of his left foot.

The Wales international then registered two assists during the Cottagers’ crazy game against Manchester City in West London, which ended 5-4 to the visitors.

Most recently, Wilson scored a genuine Goal of the Season contender in defeat to Crystal Palace with a delicious finish off the outside of his boot after a sharp one-two with Raul Jimenez (£3.4m) on the edge of the box.

This purple patch has yielded 28 points.

Among midfielders, only heavy hitters Phil Foden (£5.3m) and Bruno Fernandes (£5.9m) have taken more points from their last three games.

Very few gaffers have benefited from Wilson’s recent exploits as his current ownership reads 0.9%.

But he has to be considered a viable differential option (not to mention an absolute bargain) for Gameweek 15 when Marco Silva’s side will fulfil a rare double header.

On Saturday, Fulham will travel to Turf Moor to face a Burnley side that have lost six games on the spin.

The following Wednesday brings a Carabao Cup quarter-final against Newcastle at St James’ Park, not the easiest match-up by any means but an additional point-scoring opportunity nonetheless.

On current form, it would not be unreasonable to expect a satisfying double-digit haul from Wilson this coming Gameweek.

More broadly, Fulham are scheduled to play seven games across the next four Gameweeks — only Crystal Palace will be busier.

UPCOMING FULHAM FIXTURES

  • GW15: Burnley (a) & Newcastle (a)
  • GW16: Nottingham Forest (h)
  • GW17: West Ham (a) & Crystal Palace (a)
  • GW18: Liverpool (h) & Chelsea (h)

Between his form and a couple of team-mates departing for AFCON, Wilson should be assured plenty of minutes over the next six weeks.

He averages a goal involvement every 150.6 minutes this season but one every 92.6 minutes since the start of November.

And at £2.6m, there’s a good chance he can be sold for a tidy profit when it makes sense to replace him.
