Srixon has unveiled the second generation of its ZXi irons, introducing a four-model family that combines Japanese forging, AI-assisted design and Tour-influenced shaping to cater for golfers ranging from accomplished ball-strikers to those looking for additional speed and forgiveness.
The new range comprises the ZXi7, ZXi5, ZXi5+ and ZXiU, with each model designed to offer a different balance of feel, control, distance and forgiveness.
Central to the enchanted performance of the new models is i-FORGED, Srixon’s latest development in iron metallurgy. The process combines condensed forging techniques with carefully controlled heat-softening procedures, allowing engineers to strengthen high-stress areas of the head while retaining softer properties elsewhere. The aim is to improve durability without sacrificing the soft impact sensation for which Srixon’s forged irons have become known.
All four models are forged by Endo Manufacturing in Japan, while Srixon has also made extensive use of AI-assisted design.
In the ZXi5, ZXi5+ and ZXiU, MainFrame iQ uses thousands of simulated impact scenarios to optimise the face structure. Reducing face mass by up to eight per cent has allowed weight to be repositioned elsewhere in the head to increase ball speed, forgiveness and MOI, while improving performance on off-centre strikes.
The more compact ZXi7 instead features PureFrame iQ, with an enlarged forged ridge positioned behind the sweet spot to increase stability and deliver the responsive feedback demanded by better players. Long irons also feature additional perimeter weighting for forgiveness, while mass becomes more centrally concentrated in the shorter clubs to promote precision and shot-shaping.
Tour feedback has influenced the appearance of the entire family, with thinner toplines and cleaner transitions creating a more compact look at address. Srixon’s established Tour V.T. Sole also returns, combining different sole widths, bounce angles and notching to promote cleaner turf interaction from a variety of lies.
For skilled golfers, the ZXi7 offers the most traditional package, combining S15C steel, tungsten weighting and Tour-inspired shaping for maximum control and workability. The ZXi5 adds greater speed and forgiveness while retaining a players-style profile.
Perhaps the most interesting newcomer is the ZXi5+. Srixon’s first fully forged hollow players-distance iron combines stronger lofts, longer blade lengths and wider soles with a compact appearance. It is aimed at golfers wanting extra distance and forgiveness without moving into a conventional game-improvement design. The range can also be blended into combo sets, making the ZXi5+ an interesting long-iron partner for the ZXi5 or ZXi7.
Completing the line-up, the ZXiU provides a higher-launching and more forgiving alternative to traditional long irons.
The ZXi7, ZXi5 and ZXi5+ are priced at £1,099 for a six-club set, with steel or graphite shafts, while the ZXiU costs £249.
