Two New York City boroughs officially declared dedicated appreciation days to honor the British forward of the New York Knicks, OG Anunoby, after his last-second heroics in Game 4 of the NBA Finals 2026.

The London native sparked citywide celebrations by capping off a historic 29-point turnaround, the largest comeback victory in Finals history, with a legendary tip-in put-back shot with just 1.2 seconds remaining to secure a heart-pounding win over the San Antonio Spurs in Madison Square Garden on Wednesday.

Staten Island Borough President Vito Fossella initiated the celebratory tributes by proclaiming June 10th as OG Anunoby Day across the entire island.

The following morning, Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal signed a matching proclamation designating June 11th as OG Anunoby Appreciation Day, praising the quiet assassin for his relentless work ethic and exceptional perimeter defensive abilities.

Anunoby completely dominated the final seconds of Game 4, packing a crucial transition block against guard De’Aaron Fox before finishing the night with 33 points. The 28-year-old Indiana Hoosiers alumnus has emerged as a frontrunner for the Finals MVP award, averaging 23.8 points while shooting an efficient 55.6% from beyond the arc during the championship series in the 2026 NBA Playoffs, presented by Google.

The thrilling triumph placed the New York squad up 3–1 in the best-of-seven series, moving the franchise just a single victory away from capturing its first title since 1973. Game 5 is in San Antonio’s Frost Bank Center this Saturday.
