NEAL MAUPAY has bagged himself a move to Spanish giants Sevilla – and he is already back to his hilariously chaotic antics.
The French forward had a reputation during his Premier League spells with Brighton and Brentford for being an eccentric loose cannon.
He revels in winding up his opponents and their fans on the pitch, leading to a faux pas from Sevilla‘s social media team that has come back to bite them.
During a friendly in August 2025 between the Spaniards and Olympique Marseille, for whom Maupay was playing at the time, the English X account for Sevilla posted: “Whenever Neil Maupay comes on and doesn’t score, admin smiles.”
The tweet became awkward when the 29-year-old was signed by the club on Tuesday, until the club decided to cleverly capitalise on the funny situation.
They revealed Maupay’s signing with a video, in which a faceless man retweets the original post with a new caption reading: “Whenever Neal Maupay joins Sevilla, admin smiles.”

The man is then revealed to be Maupay himself, which explains why this time around the Sevilla account spelled his first name correctly.
Fans loved the inventive announcement, with one saying: “Give the admin a raise.”
Another joked: “Never ever diss Maupay.”
While another fan referenced his fiery personality, saying: “I hope the Admin has regained access to the account cos Neal Maupay can’t be trusted to keep his cool.”
It wasn’t just on Sevilla’s social media that the striker would make a cheeky jab.
He quote tweeted the original post on his own X account, joking: “Hey admin where is your office I just wanna talk.”
He then hilariously followed up with a picture of him playfully holding a member of Sevilla’s media team in a headlock.
He captioned the post: “Ladies and gentlemen, we got him.”
Maupay is looking to reignite his career after falling out of favour with Ligue Un side Marseille, who he joined from Everton in 2025.
He has made just one appearance for the outfit this season, but now joins a striking department that includes Akor Adams and former Arsenal and Manchester United star Alexis Sanchez.
