Nate Diaz still has plenty of “BMF” energy in him.
The veteran lightweight, who just recently teased his potential return to the UFC to chase that elusive “baddest motherf*cker” title, addressed the upcoming fight for that belt between Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira. The fight serves as the UFC 326 main event with Holloway putting the “BMF” title up for grabs against Oliveira.
A longtime admirer of Holloway and his work, Diaz is clearly riding with the Hawaiian heading into the March fight but Oliveira also caught a stray when he was asked about the fight.
“I like Max,” Diaz told Clocked N Loaded. “I’ll slap the shit out of [Charles Oliveira]. That was rude what I said but I’ll f*ck him up.”
It’s possible Diaz is angling to face the winner given his recent declaration that he not only created the “BMF” division but he has unfinished business there.
Diaz left the UFC in free agency following a win over Tony Ferguson in 2022 and since then he’s only competed in boxing on two different occasions with a victory against longtime rival Jorge Masvdal and a loss to Jake Pual.
Given his recent post hinting at a UFC reunion to possibly chase that “BMF” title, Diaz obviously has a vested interest in the outcome of Holloway vs. Oliveira.
He also has an interest in timing a potential return to the UFC with the promotion currently in the matchmaking phase for the historic card scheduled at the White House on June 14.
No fights have been announced for that card but Diaz hinting at possibly returning to the UFC immediately led to speculation that perhaps he was going to end up competing at that event, which would certainly add some extra star power to the card.
For his part, Diaz definitely sounds interested.
“The White House would be perfect,” Diaz said about a date for his UFC return.
It remains to be seen if Diaz takes a spot on the coveted White House card but there would be plenty of options available to him if that happens.
Diaz later apologized for his podcast comments.
