Shortly after winning its sixth consecutive Liga Nationala title in Romania, U-BT Cluj-Napoca officially announced that head coach Mihai Silvasan will continue to lead the team for an 11th consecutive season.
The 41-year-old play-caller, who transitioned to coaching in 2015 after playing his entire career at Cluj-Napoca, has continuously raised the performance bar in Romanian basketball. Over a decade at the helm, he has maintained a perfect record in domestic Finals, securing 18 trophies, including seven league championships, six cups, and five super cups.
Beyond this domestic dominance, he has successfully guided the club onto the European stage, reaching the Basketball Champions League Quarterfinals once and the BKT EuroCup quarterfinals in each of the last three seasons. Most recently, he led the team to a domestic treble alongside a quarterfinal appearance in their debut AdmiralBet ABA League campaign.

“First of all, I am very happy that I will continue with my beloved team,” said the Cluj-Napoca native, who is also in charge of the senior national team of Romania. “It is a rare thing, and for me it is very important to be the coach of this team for the 11th consecutive season.”
“I have grown with this team, and obviously, things do not stop here,” he added, looking ahead to the 2026-27 season. “We want to be better and bigger. We continue with a lot of confidence, with a very big ambition to do things even better and to continue growing, even if the challenges will be very big in the next season. We will probably have to build almost from scratch, and I think we are mostly used to doing this. We accept this challenge and move forward.”
With this partnership renewed, the club turns attention to rebuilding the roster for the next continental, regional, and domestic challenges.
