Real Madrid won 105-104 in a wild game to take down Paris Basketball at home, clinching a spot in the EuroLeague Play-Ins and continuing to fight for their upcoming future in the postseason.
Mario Hezonja had a wonderful night with 26 points over 4/4 from two, 5/9 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 3/3 at the line. In the post-game interview, he emphasized such a high-scoring game.
“That’s the game. I know a lot of people “defense, defense, defense,” but they’re probably not able to put the ball in a basket, that’s why they say that. But this is a wild team, but we are wilder definitely,” he said.
“They remind me a lot about my UNICS Kazan team. I know how it is, I respect them a lot. I love to watch them, I’ve watched them a lot this year. I wish them the best coming forward,” the Croatian forward spoke highly about the EuroLeague rookies from the French capital.
Later on, he was asked about the final stretch of the season, where big-time players emerge. “Off the probably best five players in the EuroLeague, we have three. Obviously we lean on our main guys, especially now as we are challenged,” Hezonja explained.
“This year it was ups and down for us, we sucked for a lot of time during the year. Now things are starting to work, we understand who we are. We know how to play this type of game, we understand in which moment of the season we are.”
“Every time there’s a challenge, we respond. I don’t know if it’s because of the shirt in front or on the back, but we have both. We responded. We have to shut up, focus, and keep going like this,” he finished.
