The two favourites team secured the victory on the first day of the Spanish Cup. In a crowded Roig Arena, Real Madrid and Valencia got the job done in the quarterfinals.
Madrid dominated the first half (50-28). With a 28-12 run in the first quarter, Scariolo’s team punished Unicaja every offensive transition before the break.
Easy job in the second half to secure the win (100-70). Trey Lyles (16 p.) and Theo Maledon (13 p.) led the way. Mario Hezonja and Alberto Abalde added 12. Chuma Okeke did not play for Real Madrid.
In the previous semi-final, Valencia Basket won in front of their home crowd against a Joventut team that fought until the end (95-84). Miret’s team fought back in the second half, but couldn’t complete the comeback.
In the opening match of the tournament, Brancou Badio (21 p.) and Jean Montero (19 p.) led their team into the Cup’s semifinals. In Joventut, Cameron Hunt had a great game (26 p.), but it wasn’t enough to get the win.
