The ex-Liverpool frontman shared pictures of himself pre and post-operation, and reassured fans he is “all good now”.

Fowler wrote yesterday evening: “Before and After… been a few people lately saying the same thing, go and get those blemishes/spots checked, basal cell carcinoma.

“Caught early thankfully so all good…just need to get a club now.”

The NHS describes basal cell carcinoma as a type of non-melanoma skin cancer that starts in the top layer of the skin.

Messages of support have since poured in for the former Premier League striker.

Fowler is best known for being a clinical forward in the Premier League, having netted 163 goals.

He also scored the Premier League’s second fastest hat-trick ever, in four minutes and 33 seconds, against Arsenal.

Fowler held the record for 20 years, and was voted the PFA Young Player of the Year in 1995 and 1996.

He is one of only three players to have won the title in consecutive years, along with Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney.

The former Liverpool and Leeds star also earned 26 caps for the Three Lions during his playing career, scoring seven times.

But Fowler often found himself down the pecking order for England during his career.

The retired striker had to compete with the likes of Alan Shearer, Teddy Sheringham, Ian Wright and Michael Owen.

Fowler went into management since retiring from playing in 2012.

He was last in charge of Saudi outfit Al-Qadsiah but was axed in 2023.

Born in Toxteth, Liverpool, in 1975 Fowler used his mother’s surname at the time and went by Robert Ryder.

As a kid, Fowler supported Everton FC –  despite later going on to play for their local rivals.
