Keyshawn Davis agreed to challenge IBF light welterweight champion Richardson Hitchins for his title in March 2026. The two met at today’s Teofimo Lopez vs. Shakur Press conference in New York City.
Keyshawn’s Switch Flips Instantly
Hitchins got in Keyshawn’s face, reminding him of how he’d gotten the better of him during sparring that they had years ago. Initially, Davis (13-0, 9 KOs) was friendly and easy-going, but something snapped in him when Hitchins started shaming him in front of the media, bringing up their sparring.
It was different Keyshawn, as he showed flashes of anger and took over. You could tell from looking at him that he was in full trigger mode, vowing to fight Richardson next and take his IBF 140-lb title from him in 2026.
Flashbacks to the Berinchyk Blowup
It was the same look to him that he had when he went off on WBO lightweight champion Denys Berinchyk at their final press conference, accusing him of sending a box of bananas to his hotel room. Keyshawn looked ready for a 72-hour psyche hold at Bellvue. He snapped. It had reached the point where he looked ready to go berserk on Richardson.
Hitchins Suddenly Backs Down
Hitchins backed off completely when Keyhshawn lost on him. You could see the change. He went from talking mess to holding back, ‘What did I get myself into?’ I unleashed something in Keyshawn that he didn’t want to deal with.
“We’re going to fight next year because he’s the champ. I’mma take your belt ‘cuz you know you’re not better than me in March. Hey, you can’t take a punch. I promise you can’t take a punch,” said Keyshawn Davis to IBF light welterweight champion Richardson Hitchins during today’s face-off in New York.
