Kevin Nash won the WWE Championship in 1995 during his run as Diesel, but not all fans were thrilled with his booking at that time. That was especially true of the title match at that year’s SummerSlam against King Mabel, which was upstaged by the ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship between Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon (Scott Hall).
During an episode of his “Kliq This” podcast, Nash responded to a fan question by confirming that Mabel was the only opponent WWE had in mind for him going into SummerSlam. However, he would’ve loved to have faced Bam Bam Bigelow instead.
“They built [Mabel] for that spot,” the veteran said regarding the SummerSlam match. “[Bam Bam] was great. I could’ve actually tore it down with Bam Bam. Yeah, f**k yeah. If they would have used him better and made him a killer heel.”
Nash has praised Bam Bam in the past while admitting that “The Beast From The East” was not the Kliq’s biggest fan. In a previous episode of his podcast, he claimed that he and his fellow Kliq members often went to bat for Bam Bam despite the fact that he’d complain to Vince McMahon about them breaking kayfabe in public by hanging out together on the road.
Bigelow died in 2007 at the age of 45, following a career that lasted from the 1980s into the 2000s, and took him across the world working for various promotions, including WWE, WCW, and NJPW.
