The Team of the Week for Gameday 1 of the Round of 16 in Basketball Champions League Season X, powered by Ameresco SUNEL, was announced on Thursday.

Following exciting action all around Europe on Tuesday and Wednesday, the standouts in Kendrick Perry, Lukas Lekavicius, Jack Kayil, Jahmi’us Ramsey, and Michael Ruzic were named on the Team of the Week.

A fan vote launched on the official Champions League portal will lead to the Player of the Week, with the winner in the race between the five aforementioned players announced on Friday.

Per the press release: “The Basketball Champions League Season X, powered by Ameresco SUNEL continued with eight games on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday gives us time to reflect on the best individual performances.

The 12th Team of the Week saw players from Unicaja, AEK BC, ALBA BERLIN, Pallacanestro Trieste and Joventut Badalona make the cut.

Kendrick Perry stepped up when the defending champs needed him the most. Perry got all the clutch points as Unicaja survived a late comeback by Fitness First Wurzburg Baskets and claimed their 14th straight win.

Lukas Lekavicius played his best BCL game for AEK BC, counting to 28 in 27 minutes. The lefty guard was the biggest reason AEK erased another deficit after three quarters, winning their 22nd BCL game from that situation.

No other team has more than 13 wins from a trailing position heading into the fourth quarter.

Jack Kayil was featured as a Best Young Player candidate on our website on Monday, and he turned in a busy performance on the road in Türkiye.

ALBA BERLIN’s wunderkind led them to their sixth straight win, defeating Tofas Bursa to remain perfect (4-0) on the road this season.

Speaking of road warriors, Jahmi’us Ramsey and Pallacanestro Trieste have done it again. After collecting a pair of wins in Hungary during the Play-Ins, Trieste kick-started their Round of 16 run with a Spanish win.

Trieste handed Dreamland Gran Canaria their first defeat of the season, and Ramsey continued his run of games with 17+ points, making it four straight now.

Finally, the middle belongs to another youngster. Joventut Badalona’s Croatian Sensation Michael Ruzic drew “oohs” and “ahhs” from the crowd as the green-and-black side won their seventh BCL game.

With Ruzic shining brightly, Joventut became only the second team to win their first seven BCL games, following Segafredo Virtus Bologna’s success in 2018-19.”
