Josh Hokit continues to steal the spotlight, for better or worse.
On Saturday, UFC 327 goes down at the Kaseya Center in Miami, headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between Jiri Prochazka and Carlos Ulberg. But while Prochazka and Ulberg are the main event of the weekend, rising heavyweight prospect Josh Hokit has done everything he can to make this Saturday about his fight with Curtis Blaydes, with over-the-top antics and a pro-wrestling persona that took center stage at the pre-fight press conference on Thursday.
Hokit continued his shenanigans at the ceremonial weigh-ins on Friday, stopping to dance aggressively in front of the ring girls before stealing the mic from emcee Joe Rogan to deliver another canned line.
“Don’t twist my noodle, toy poodle!” Hokit shouted to the crowd. “I’m gonna toast him like a toaster strudel! Am I right, Miami?!”
Hokit’s outburst was certainly the most eventful part of the ceremonial weigh-ins, as everyone else took to the scale and faced off without any drama.
The main event between Prochazka and Ulberg had a respectful final faceoff, with the former light heavyweight champion promising to “bring the heat” to Miami on Saturday.
“Hello, Miami. Like they wanted to tell in the interview, bring the heat to Miami. So, I believe we will, and I will,” Prochazka said. “I am going to bring the heat to Miami.
“Ulberg, man, great striker, everybody knows. Left hook, fast kicks, all these things. I give everything in my preparation and with my team, and with everyone who stays with me. I’m going for that. Let’s go for that.”
