On Tuesday it was reported that Grealish would see a specialist in the coming days to determine the extent of the injury.

And according to reporter Fabrizio Romano, Grealish’s issue is set to keep him out for three months.

This morning, Grealish posted a picture of himself in full Everton kit clapping supporters.

He worryingly accompanied the image with a broken heart emoji.

Grealish has been attempting to work his way back into England contention ahead of the World Cup this summer.

The 39-cap star missed out on Euro 2024, but returned to Three Lions action during Lee Carsley‘s brief tenure as boss.

Grealish has not yet made a single squad under Thomas Tuchel, however, and joined Everton on loan last summer in part to try and force his way back in.

The creative star has played 20 times in the Premier League this term – scoring two goals and laying on six assists.

After his side’s 1-0 win at Manchester United in November, Grealish was spotted chatting with Tuchel in the Old Trafford tunnel.

And the former Aston Villa talisman said in October: “First of all, you want to play well for your club, because that’s what we do every week. But, obviously, you want to be in the England squad.

“But I do understand it. I spoke to the manager there, and I understand that there’s a lot of competition, especially in that left-wing spot at the moment.

“Rashy’s [Marcus Rashford] flying, [Eberechi] Eze, Anthony Gordon, you know, everyone’s doing so well.

“I can’t really complain, it is what it is. Hopefully, I can just keep performing and keep influencing games.”
