Arman Tsarukyan is confident he can make the featherweight limit despite being a pretty large lightweight. The top 155-pound contender continues to tease a drop in weight classes after Saturday’s UFC London event.
Tsarukyan, who has kept himself quite active outside of the octagon while waiting for his next UFC fight, was tuning in to Saturday’s headliner where Movsar Evloev picked up a majority decision win over Lerone Murphy, which potentially could earn him a title shot against Alexander Volkanovski.
While Dana White didn’t make any decisions on Saturday as to who is next, Tsarukyan appeared to throw himself in the hat on social media.
“UFC fans, is it time for me to save the featherweight division?,” Tsarukyan wrote on Threads.
After Evloev’s win over Murphy, Tsarukyan also tweeted out that he’s “next.”
Tsarukyan is set to face Gerogio Poullas in a freestyle wrestling rematch this Saturday at RAF 7 in Tampa after their first matchup ended in a brawl following Tsarukyan’s victory via points. In his most recent octagon appearance, Tsarukyan destroyed Dan Hooker in the first round at UFC Qatar this past November.
Since then, Tsarukyan has had to sit back and watch an interim lightweight title fight he wasn’t involved in between Justin Gaethje and Paddy Pimblett, and now Ilia Topuria faces Gaethje in a unification bout in the main event of June’s UFC White House card.
