TMZ and USA Today report that Miami police took Gervonta “Tank” Davis into custody on Tuesday, two weeks after an arrest warrant was issued in Florida.

Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) is facing charges of false imprisonment, battery, and attempted kidnapping in connection with an alleged incident involving former partner Courtney Rossel, who also filed a civil lawsuit in October. The situation has already had consequences outside the courtroom. Davis’ planned exhibition against Jake Paul was scrapped, and the WBA downgraded him from active lightweight champion to “champion in recess” while the warrant remained outstanding.

Inside the ring, Davis’ activity has slowed just as sharply. He has fought once in the last 19 months, a controversial draw with Lamont Roach Jr in March that drew criticism after Davis took a knee and later violated the rules so his corner could wipe grease from his eyes. Early talk of a rematch never went far and quietly disappeared.
