BURNLEY have reportedly identified Frank Lampard as a potential replacement for Vincent Kompany.
Kompany, 38, left Turf Moor this week to become manager of Bayern Munich.
The Clarets confirmed that ex-Premier League star Craig Bellamy will step into the role of acting manager while club chiefs find a new permanent boss.
Bellamy will be assisted by Mike Jackson until an appointment is made.
But the duo may not be needed for long, with Lampard now in the frame for the job.
The Athletic claim the Chelsea legend has emerged as a new managerial target.

Steve Cooper had been linked with the job, but he recently ruled himself out of contention.
Lampard has been out of work since leaving Chelsea last summer.
The 45-year-old was appointed on an interim basis in April 2023 following Graham Potter’s dismissal.

He was initially sacked by Chelsea in 2021 following 18 months in charge.
Lampard then joined Everton following a year out of work, but lasted just 12 months before being sacked.
Burnley were relegated to the Championship this month after finishing 18th in the Premier League table.
