TAMMY ABRAHAM looks to return to the Premier League – but not for Chelsea.

After almost five years away, Abraham, 28, is eager to return to the Premier League, with Aston Villa looking a likely destination.

Unai Emery‘s side has emerged as a potential suitor for the England international, as they search for centre-forward options to support Ollie Watkins.

The striker is currently on loan with Besiktas, who have an obligation to buy permanently from Roma this summer.

Speaking on TalkSport, European football journalist Andy Brassell said: “He’s done pretty well this season so far in a Besiktas team that’s not going to win anything this season, but he’s done very, very well.

“I think really what’s changed him is A, that big injury at Roma and B, the loan to Milan last year, where he was back up, but it’s really changed him as a player.

“Before he was a goal scorer and hardworking enough, but someone who’s used to being a starter. But since he’s not been a starter, he’s found so many different ways to make himself useful to the team.

“So if you’re asking me, do I think he could have an impact off the bench for Villa? I don’t think there’s any doubt about that.

“I think he’s a really, really useful squad player for them and of course, been at the club before.”

While on loan with the Turkish side, Abraham has netted 12 times across 24 appearances in all competitions this season.

On a loan spell from Chelsea at Villa in the 2018/2019 season, Abraham helped the side win promotion from the Championship, scoring 26 goals in 40 appearances.

In August 2021, the centre-forward left Chelsea in search of more regular first-team minutes.

But his ACL injury in the summer of 2023 ruled him out for Roma for nine months.

Post-injury, he only started 17 matches across all competitions during last season’s loan spell at AC Milan.

A move back to English football may help Abraham’s case for a spot in the World Cup squad – with Ivan Toney and Danny Welbeck also on Thomas Tuchel‘s radar.

Abraham’s current side sit fifth in the Turkish Super Lig and 13 points adrift of leaders Galatasaray.

With Donyell Malen set to leave Villa Park for Roma, this may be a simple switch for Emery.

Villa find themselves in third, level on points with Manchester City and six points behind top of the table Arsenal.
