CRISTIANO RONALDO could be set for a summer move away from Saudi Arabia after his falling out with Al-Nassr.

The Manchester United icon has gone on strike after raising issues with the club’s transfer strategy compared to other Saudi Pro League sides.

Ronaldo, 41, was left fuming over his team’s spending levels compared to Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli who PIF also owns.

His anger hit a breaking point during the January transfer window with Al-Nassr not adding any stars from Europe’s top leagues to the squad.

This was then made worse as Karim Benzema left Al-Ittihad for Al-Hilal, which is thought to have further angered Ronaldo.

As a result, Ronaldo reportedly refused to play in the wins over Al-Ittihad and Al-Riyadh

Al-Nassr would like the five-time Ballon d’Or winner to stay at the club with his contract set to expire in 2027.

However, reports have claimed that they would be willing to let him leave should he decide to move on.

It is thought that Ronaldo has a release clause worth £43million at the end of the season.

SunSport has looked at five potential destinations that Ronaldo could make the move to this summer…

Sporting Lisbon

Sporting Lisbon would be the romantic move for Ronaldo to make, as it is the club he started his career at.

The Portuguese icon would be given a hero’s welcome if he made the switch to the Estadio José Alvalade.

Ronaldo played 31 times for Sporting before he made his exit for United in 2003.

But he was in the club’s youth academy between 1997 and 2002 before he made the step up to the first team.

However, the club would have to negotiate Ronaldo’s £488,000-per-day wages in order to afford the deal.

Como 1906

Ronaldo is no stranger to Serie A, having starred at Juventus between 2018 and 2021.

He made the £88million move to the Itay after his nine-year stint at Real Madrid.

The Indonesian tobacco billionaire backed Como could offer Ronaldo a route back to Europe.

Managed by Cesc Fabregas, Como are owned by billionaire brothers R. Budi Hartono and Michael Hartono.

They boast a combined net worth exceeding £35billion and would be able to put a decent proposal to Ronaldo.

Inter Miami

The MLS has long been one of the leagues for veteran stars to head to for a final swansong before retiring.

Thierry Henry, Andrea Pirlo and now Lionel Messi are just some of the stars who have graced the pitches in the US.

Ronaldo could finally make the move and also finally become team-mates with long-time rival Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.

The pair spent years outdoing one another during their El Clásico rivalry in Spain and in races for the Ballon d’Or.

Now, club co-owner David Beckham could make the ultimate marketing move by uniting them in the same team.

The former England international could also view Ronaldo as Messi’s replacement with reports linking him with a return to Argentina to finish his career.

Likelihood rating 5/10

Al-Hilal

Another route Ronaldo could take would be to remain in Saudi but switch teams.

Al-Hilal are the current leaders in the Saudi Pro League – ahead of Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr by one point.

A move there would see him reunite with former Real Madrid team-mates Benzema and Theo Hernandez and Portugal pal Ruben Neves.

This option would also allow Ronaldo to keep his family in Riyadh and not uproot them to another country.

Manchester United

Ronaldo could also opt to pursue a relationship-fixing return to Manchester United.

The veteran left Old Trafford for the second time under a cloud following his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan.

He criticised the running of the club and complained about a lack of respect from the now-sacked manager Erik ten Hag.

United are now under the interim guidance of Michael Carrick who, if given the job on a full-time basis, could bring Ronaldo back.

The pair played together 127 times under Sir Alex Ferguson before Ronaldo left for Real Madrid in 2009.

Carrick also coached Ronaldo at United during his interim spell after the axing of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2021.

Ronaldo played three times for the Englishman before he was replaced by Ralf Rangnick.

The forward scored three times in this spell, including a brace in a 3-2 win over Arsenal.

The Red Devils are on course for a Champions League spot, which would certainly be a temptation for the competition’s leading goalscorer.
